GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life ISSUE #336 November 28, 2001 Branded People the world over seem familiar with the concept of branding. Cattle are branded with their owners mark so that they can be identified. Stores and products invest heavily in raising awareness of their brand, so that people will want to purchase their product. The name of your denomination and the name of your church is a brand of sorts. Gleanings From The Word, experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life is the "brand" of this ministry. It was chosen to draw people to read it and remember it. There is nothing inherently wrong with the concept of branding. It can however be used as a tool of the enemy. We can get so covetous about being associated with a particular brand that we put everything else behind in our desire to own it or wear it. Have you succumbed to brand worship? Do you "have" to belong to a particular denomination, drive a certain car or wear a certain clothing label? Dear children, keep yourselves from idols 1 John 5:21 Are you showing the brand of Jesus in your life, or do you carry another’s? Until next time, may the brand you wear by your lifestyle and love boldly proclaim "disciple of Jesus Christ" God bless.
