GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life ISSUE # 334 November 26, 2001 Value What is the most expensive thing you have ever bought? For us, it was the home we owned before this one. It was a modest, older bungalow in a suburban community. To be honest, it was nothing spectacular, although it was our home and we loved it. By the standards of 80% of the worlds people it was a palace compared to what they live in. Within a ten-minute drive there were homes that cost ten times as much. Even those big expensive mansions pale compared to what really wealthy people spend on homes and the accoutrements of their life styles, houses in the tens of millions, works of art in the tens of millions of dollars. People will pay great prices for things they value. There is something even more valuable&ldots;YOU! Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. 1 Peter 1:17-21 NIV You were bought into the citizenship of heaven by the blood of Jesus. You have infinite value and are no longer a citizen of this place. You are worth more than all of those valuable possessions that others spend a lifetime acquiring. Never let anyone tell you differently. Until next time, may you truly come to know how much you are worth and how the things of this world pale in importance. God bless. Kevin Christ has paid for you. Have you accepted His offer of love, forgiveness and eternal life? If not email me and Ill share a few Bible verses that explain why it is important that you do and a prayer that will make it possible.
