GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue #502 May 26, 2002 Holy Guest Yesterday we were delighted to watch two dear friends reaffirm their marriage vows in celebration of their twenty-year wedding anniversary. Afterwards a group of their family and friends gathered for a time of fellowship at their home. It was a blessing for us to be their guest and to be asked to participate. There is something special about people who care enough to make you really welcome in their lives. Some years back, a well-known evangelist who preached from the King James Bible had a special name for Holy Ghost. He called Him Holy Guest. There is something very accurate feeling about that name. He is a guest; He doesnt come where Hes not invited. He doesnt manifest His power in our lives beyond what we are willing to allow Him to do. What a wonderful guest He is. He comes in intimacy, in power and bringing gifts. He doesnt need to be entertained or impressed. All He needs is to be invited. Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:15-20 NIV Until next time, may you open your heart, home and worship to a Holy Guest. May you be transformed, renewed and empowered by His presence. Be blessed today. Hallelu Yah Kevin Do you know that God is alive, well and still speaking today? He still desires to have a personal relationship with people; to offer them love, guidance, forgiveness and acceptance. Email me and Ill share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible. Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of: Dear God: I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord. Amen If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship. Did you know that at Gleanings, we have a dedicated team of prayer warriors and all prayer concerns are kept strictly confidential?
