Change

Yesterday, like most days, I took my dog Genni for a walk around the lake. It was a typical Alberta spring morning.

The first part of the route, it snowed. Not heavily, just enough to be miserable. Suddenly the snow and wind stopped and the sun broke through. The temperature climbed to the point I thought about taking my jacket off.

As I had that thought, it started to rain. Cold, dreary spring rain. It rained long enough to make things miserable and the sun broke through again for a while. On the last leg of the trip home, it was simply cloudy and windy.

Now, it isn’t a big lake. It isn’t like I was out for hours or covered huge differences in terrain. The weather just couldn’t seem to make up its mind what to do.

Our lives can be like that. One minute we’re in crisis, the next we’re happy. Sometimes we’re in the greys and blacks of depression or mourning. We can flip-flop from moment to moment and situation to situation.

Some people say that the only certain things in life are death and taxes. Taxes change and some people are exempt so tax isn’t certain. Depending on the timing of the rapture, death isn’t certain.

The only certainty in life is God’s wonderful nature.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 NIV

Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:21-23 NIV

Until next time, know that whatever life throws you, whether joy, sorrow or something in between, rejoice in knowing that He is there, He is faithful and He never changes.

I give my life to you Lord.
