GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD

Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life

Issue #453

Airport Crowds

I sat in the airport watching the crowds coming and going. People were preparing to depart; others were obviously waiting for the arrival of someone.

Many were joyful, filled with the excitement of going somewhere or the arrival of friends or loved ones. Some were fearful, perhaps of the flight or what waited at their destination.

A few were stressed business travellers, to whom flying was just part of everyday life, an inconvenience to be tolerated. Flight crews, maintenance people and airport staff came and went, almost like part of the landscape.

A few of those in the crowds were like brick walls; there was no way of guessing why they were there or what they were feeling.

It was like a microcosm of life itself, a snapshot of the journey of people’s lives and emotions.

Some people have lives of joy, others of fear. Some seem to think that everything that happens is an inconvenience to be tolerated; others seem to exist more than live.

For those who don’t know Jesus and believe their life is a random happening that ends at death, what a hopeless journey it must seem. For those who know there is a God but feel they must be perfect what a terrifying journey it must be. For those who think only of God as a being of anger and wrath, it must be terrifying and lonely.

For those who know the fullness of God’s character, forgiveness and love, what a place of joy the journey of life can be, whatever the circumstances.

We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you. Psalm 33:20-22 NIV

Until next time, may the comfort of knowing Jesus cause you to rejoice no matter what life throws your way.

Hallelu Yah

Kevin

Are you facing a life of burden, hopelessness, despair or fear? Turn to the One who can help you through it all, turn to Jesus.

Email me and I’ll share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible.

Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of:

Dear God:

I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord.

Amen

If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship.
