GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD

Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life

Issue #443 March 15, 2002

Ordinary People

The world is full of ordinary people. The kind of people who go about their daily lives, pay their bills, do their jobs, live, marry, have children and die without accomplishing anything substantial enough to warrant a mention in the history books.

Some of them are nice people with good hearts. Some have miserable dispositions like the neighbourhood grouch. Some have it relatively easy while others struggle all the time.

The vast majority of the 6 billion people in the world are ordinary, everyday kind of people. Chances are you are an ordinary person, I know I am.

We suffer the same pains as the extraordinary people. We have the same joys. They just seem to do it in a way that’s bigger than life.

Someone once said, "God loves ordinary people. He must because He made so many of them."

The nice part about being ordinary is that if we open our hearts to Him, God can accomplish extraordinary things through us.

Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 NIV

Until next time, may you rejoice in being ordinary because it allows an extraordinary God to shine through you.

Hallelu Yah

Kevin

Are you an ordinary person looking for extraordinary love and forgiveness? Are you an ordinary person struggling with life’s battles? Are you an ordinary person who knows their must be more to life?

If so, Email me and I’ll share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible.

Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of:

Dear God:

I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord.

Amen

If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship.
