GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life
Issue 512 June 5, 2002 Little Yellow Lambs I saw something new as I walked around the lake yesterday. Sitting on the hillside in the sun was a flock of geese, nothing unusual in that. Ive seen the geese flocked up and enjoying the sun lots of times. This time it was different, in the midst of the flock were what appeared to be all the goslings I have seen on the lake so far. The goslings were all together and being protected by the flock. They looked to me like a flock of little yellow lambs. Over the years, I have seen innumerable geese and goslings, but I had never witnessed them all together like that before. It makes sense that they would gather together that way since geese are highly social birds and that characteristic comes out early. Without the presence of the parents, the goslings would have been easy pickings for any predator in the area. When the dog and I got too close, one of the geese sounded the alarm and they promptly herded the little ones closer to the waters edge for safety. Watching them helped me see more clearly the metaphor of Christ being the shepherd. Without His guiding presence, we are like those goslings without the guarding parents. We could flock together but it still provides little protection. See, the Sovereign LORD comes with power, and his arm rules for him. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. Isaiah 40:10-11 NIV Until next time, may you feel the gentle presence of the loving Shepherd in your life. Be blessed with the pleroma (fullness) of God. Hallelu Yah Kevin Do you know the protecting Shepherd, the one who looks after you no matter what, who forgives your sins and loves you unconditionally? Email me and Ill share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of: Dear God: I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord. Amen If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship.
