GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life
Issue #511 June 4, 2002 Early Morning Robins The robins started singing about 3:00 this morning. It was still dark out, but they could tell that sunrise was just over the horizon. I muttered something to myself about annoying birds and rolled over to go back to sleep. I dreamt of a world where the sunrise never came, it stayed dark all the time. When I woke up, I realized that would be a world without God. People often say things like "How can there be a God when I see all the suffering around me?" or "How can there be a God when there is so much evil in the world?" Even if we disregard the fact that without God there would be no creation, those are valid questions. If you know there is suffering you must have compassion. If you know there is evil you must know there is something good. If you know its dark, you must know there is light. God is in the compassion, the goodness and the light. Without those things there would be no stopping the plummet to even deeper depths of evil, despair and darkness. Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created. James 1:16-18 NIV Even in the times of darkness, He is there and He does not fail. Love, kindness, compassion, peace and more are proof of His existence and His caring. If youve even seen them but not experienced them, know that without Him they would not exist. Until next time, if youre in a dark place, do like the robins this morning and sing anyway because the Light is coming back. Be blessed today. Hallelu Yah Kevin Are you looking for hope in the midst of a dark world? Look to a relationship with Jesus. Email me and Ill share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of: Dear God: I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord. Amen If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship.
