GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Encountering an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue # 180 June 26, 2001 ACCUSATIONS
Cold, heavy, black clouds blotted out the sun. The rain continued for days. Sometimes it poured, other times it was no more than a steady drizzle, but it didnt stop. The longer it rained, the shorter peoples tempers became. Their spirits sank lower with each falling raindrop and the forecast showed no let up in sight. It was as if someone had dropped a heavy, wet, woolen blanket over the entire community. People were weighed down with it, and there seemed to be no relief in sight. Thats the same feeling people can have about their sins. They feel weighed down, burdened and oppressed. The heavy blanket of accusation presses on them and they are unable to get out from under it. The problem is magnified by the fact that we know we are guilty. Were not being falsely accused, we have sinned. There is however a difference between conviction and condemnation. When we are feeling condemned for sins that have already been turned over to the Lord, it is from Satan. Hes not called the accuser for no reason. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down Revelation 12:10 NIV Until the second coming, Satan stands there accusing us before God and reminding us constantly of our past mistakes, condemning us. Conviction is different than condemnation because it offers a way out. We know we have sinned and we take it before God for forgiveness and healing. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 NIV Scripture says once we are forgiven, Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2 NIV If you are born again and have confessed the sin to the Lord, the condemnation and accusation that weighs heavily on your mind is from Satan. Christ has already paid your price and you dont have to listen. Until next time, may your heart and mind be free from condemnation. God bless. Kevin If you know what it is like to be guilty, but dont know forgiveness, email me. Ill send you a few Bible verses that will explain the forgiveness possible through a personal relationship with Jesus and a prayer that will make it possible. Dont be burdened any linger, take it to God and get a fresh start. © 2001 K.F. "Kevin" Corbin All Rights Reserved |
