GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Encountering an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue # 205 July 21, 2001 DOESNT GOD KNOW HOW MUCH IM HURTING
At Gleanings, I get a lot of email, all of which it is a privilege to read. People share their joys and their struggles. They share their questions about God. Some of the mail makes me jump for joy. Some of it makes my heart ache for the people who are writing. There are times when it just takes my breath away and it is all that I can do to keep from crying when I read what people are going through or have gone through. One of the common themes in the mail box is people dealing with struggles and wondering Does He really know what Im going through? or Doesnt God know how much Im hurting?. Those questions I can confidently answer without any doubt, yes. I look back to the time of the crucifixion and some of the words of Christ on the cross. From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"--which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Matthew 27:45-46 NIV He hung there dying on the cross and facing the penalty of suffering all the pain of hell for everyone who would ever accept Him. He knew the loneliness of feeling God turn His face. When He died, He went through more pain in three days than anyone in the world will ever face individually, because He took on the pain of all people. Does He know what you are going through. YES, without a doubt in intimate detail. Does He care, more than we will ever understand. The fact that He went through it on our behalf is proof of that. He sees it all and Im certain that His heart must break daily as He sees the drama of daily living for billions of people lined up before Him. Only a true loving God would hang in there through all of the things we put one another and ourselves through. He stays to bring good out of it all. To some this next Scripture might seem a pat answer or a cliché and I seldom use it when addressing an individuals concerns for that very reason. They need caring and understanding more than pat answers, but it is true none the less. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV Until next time may you find comfort in knowing that no matter what you will be facing, Jesus has faced as well. He knows in detail what you face and He cares. God bless. Kevin If you are struggling with life, and are not sure where to turn, turn to Jesus. He will give you what you need to make it through. Email me, and Ill share a few Bible verses about why a relationship with Jesus is important. Ill also share a prayer that will make that relationship possible. Dont face it alone, face it with all the power of heaven backing you up. © 2001 K.F. "Kevin" Corbin All Rights Reserved |
