GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue #1,022 January 31, 2004 Ice Fog I had a doctor's appointment yesterday on the opposite end of the city. Driving was treacherous in places. There was light snow falling but it was blowing around lots. By itself, that wasn't too bad. The problems came up at intersections where the visibility through the light, blowing snow was cut to nearly zero because of exhaust fog. Between the two, at times, you literally could not see the vehicle stopped in front of you at an intersection. One moment they were there, the next they were invisible. With the white out conditions, at many of the intersections, I had to wait for the vehicle ahead of me to clear the intersection before I could see if it was safe to proceed or not. Once the vehicle cleared, I could see the traffic lights and any oncoming traffic. Once we got moving, we would be fine again until we had to stop for the next light. It's a strange feeling to know there is a vehicle only a few feet in front of you but nor be able to see it. If I trusted my eyes, I would have ended up in several accidents. To stay safe I had to operate by what I knew to be true, not my feelings, or by what I could see (or couldn't see). Our faith walk is like that. Sometimes we can see God's hand at work and sometimes we don't, but we know from His Word that He's always at work. We have to trust that knowledge. Sometimes we feel condemned rather than forgiven. We have to operate on the truth that Christ has forgiven us as His Word promises, rather than the way we feel. Feelings and experience are often not the best guide. When it comes to decided to operate by feelings or experience or by God's Word. I'll choose the Word every time. We live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 NIV Until next time, may you walk by faith. Be blessed Hallelu Yah (Praise God)! Kevin Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. You have value in the eyes of God so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that heaven will not be complete without you. HELP FOR THE HURTING
Life can be hard at times. You can be in a mess and not feel like anyone cares or not see the evidence of anything that might give you hope. Don't despair and don't trust your feelings. God is there. He cares. He offers hope; peace; joy; forgiveness and more to anyone who asks. That anyone includes you Don't wait until you "feel" His presence, ask Him into your life today. You can simply begin the relationship by honestly and completely opening your heart, admitting you need God's help, and saying a prayer along the lines of: Jesus: I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I have sinned. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord. Amen If you pray this prayer for the first time let me know so I can rejoice with you.
