GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue #424 February 24, 2002 Steady Ticking I sat here this morning pondering what to write. In the background, I could here the steady ticking of my office wall clock. As it ticked, I thought about how quickly time seems to pass. This past week Kathy and I celebrated our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, yet it seemed like just yesterday that my parents were celebrating their twenty-fifth. Sometimes, it seems like we have all the time in the world to do things, other times we seem to have no time at all. Yet the rhythm of time beats on unchanging. Each of us has been given a certain amount of time here on earth, but we dont know how much time that is. Each tick of the clock brings us that much closer to meeting our Creator face to face. Moreover, no man knows when his hour will come: Ecclesiastes 9:12a NIV Are you ready? If the clock stopped ticking for you today, would there be things left undone? Have you told the people in your life how important they are to you? Have you mended fences with people who you have wronged? Have you forgiven those who hurt you? Have you shared the love of Jesus with your family and friends? "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. Matthew 24:36-44 NIV Until next time, may you make maximum use of the time He has given you. Hallelu Yah Kevin If you died today, would you be certain that you were going to heaven? There is a way to know! Email me and Ill share a few Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and how it is your ticket to heaven. Ill also share a brief prayer that will make it possible. Dont delay, make certain today.
