GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue #423 February 23, 2002 HE KNOWS At Bible study last night we got talking about Moses and the burning bush. I was asked if I would like to see a burning bush like He did. My answer surprised even me. I said no. For two reasons: 1) Im the sort of person who likes bigger and better, so while I would be excited about the burning bush for a while, Id soon grow complacent and want a forest fire the next time. 2) I see Gods finger work all around me in the vastness of the sky, the oceans, the diversity of life. I much prefer to see His hand at work in peoples everyday lives. Just think about it, the God who spoke everything into existence, cares enough to be involved in the most mundane parts of our lives. The fact that He listens to our prayers is a wonder, even more so the fact that He answers them. He comforts us in the dark times of life. He provides on a daily basis for us. He knows and cares about the minutest detail of our daily lives. The Psalmist cries out: O LORD, what is man that you care for him, the son of man that you think of him Psalm 144:3 Indirectly God answers: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17 NIV Jesus Himself says: Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. [If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. Luke 12:27-31 NIV Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7 NIV Until next time, rejoice! He is with you every moment of every day, He loves you and He is never too busy or too tired for you. The God of all the big stuff is also the God of our little every day lives.
