GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue #417 February 17, 2002 Routine Im a creature of habit. I enjoy having my routines and schedules. I enjoy my single cup of coffee in the morning, usually with a toasted bagel. The big choices are what kind of bagel and what topping. Will it be cinnamon raisin with butter or sesame seed with cream cheese? Part of my need for routine comes from having a brain injury and I have learned (by and large) a routine that keeps me at the highest level of functioning. Part of it though is strictly comfort. A nice routine with no surprises is comfortable albeit not always exciting. The danger of routine is that we can make our friends, loved ones and even God simply part of that routine. They can be taken for granted if their simply part of the routine. We can lose our sense of intimacy with them and our joy if were not careful. God doesnt want to be part of our daily routine. He wants to be Lord of our lives. There is a huge difference between the two. The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men. Isaiah 29:13 NIV Today as you worship, break out of the routine and let Jesus touch your heart again. Let Holy Spirit permeate every fibre of your being and rejoice in His presence. Until next time, may the love of God, friends and family be anything but part of your routine. Celebrate life with them. Hallelu Yah Kevin Are you stuck in a rut so big that the walls seem like canyons? Give your life over to Jesus. If youve simply drifted from Him, turn to Him and ask Him back into your life. If youve never known Him, email me. Ill share a few Bible verses that will explain why a personal relationship with Him is so important and a prayer that will make it possible. Experience the joy He has for you today!
