GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life ISSUE #351 December 13, 2001 COMING WITH THE CLOUDS Clouds obscure our vision of the sky overhead. Since clouds often accompany foul weather, someone who is going through difficult circumstances is often said to have a cloud over his or her head. Generally, clouds suffer from a bad reputation. Jesus Christ is returning with the clouds Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen. Revelation 1:7 NIV At first glance, that would seem kind of strange. I would have thought that He would return in a clear sky to that the clouds wouldnt block His visibility. It also seems strange that He is coming with the clouds, not in them or on them. The clouds must be coming for a reason. Their appearance with Jesus is intentional. The clouds are part of the plan just as they are in ordinary life. Perhaps His way of returning is to remind us of that. We need to change our perception of clouds. Physical clouds bring rain and snow, which supply moisture to the earth. What about the "clouds" of circumstances in our lives? We need to look past them and recognize them as part of the beauty of Gods plan. I dont know why bad things happen to good people, but if we truly understand that God uses all thing for good (And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV), we can see past the darkness of the clouds in our life to see Jesus in all His splendour. We dont have to like what we are going through, or what we see happen to others, but there is comfort in knowing that there is a reason, even if that reason is hidden from us right now. Until next time, even in the darkest of clouds give thanks to God. Someday you will see past those clouds to the beauty of His master plan and His return. God bless. Kevin Do you know this God who is able to use all things for good? The one who promises to return for His people?
