GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD

Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life

ISSUE #348 December 10, 2001

The Bride

There are times when we get so busy "doing things" for God that we miss out on the beauty of just being with Him.

It is similar to parents who spend day and night working hard to buy things for their children, when what the children really want and need most is for the parents to spend time with them.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating we give up "doing" things for the kingdom, in fact our love for God should compel us to want to serve Him. I’m simply saying it is easy to fall into the too busy to take time for God trap.

When was the last time you just sat and listened to some praise music? When did you last sit and read your Bible, just or the sake of enjoying His love letter to you, not dissecting every word and trying to study or analyze it?

When was the last time you simply sat in the quiet and listened for the voice of God? When did you last sit outside and marvel at the beauty of the world He created and the beauty of the one who created it?

If you have to stop and think to answer those questions, it has probably been too long. The church, that is the body of believers are destined to be the bride of Christ. We need to spend some time with our betrothed.

Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!  For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Revelation 19:7 NIV

Until next time, may you truly prepare to meet the bridegroom by spending time with Him, learning who He is.

God bless.

Kevin

The groom is Jesus. The bride is those who love and accept Him. Do you know this great God who wants to spend eternity with you, the one who will love you unconditionally and wants to see you freed of all you mistakes and hurts?

You can know Him and be made whole in His eyes. Email me and I’ll share a few Bible verses that will explain why it is important to know Him and a prayer that will make it possible.
