GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue# 339 December 1, 2001 When?
I contemplated all the evil that was reported in the morning paper. It made me angry. Its not fair God! Evil people get wealthy and have a life of luxury. Bad things happen to good people. Do you know what you are doing God? Where are you? Are you really coming back? When are people going to get what they deserve? A voice gently said, "Do you really want people to get what they deserve? Do you want what you deserve?" Ouch. Of course I dont want what I deserve, Im a sinner like everyone else. Im only saved by His grace. I opened my Bible, First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, "Where is this `coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:3-9 NIV Yes, He knows what He is doing. Yes, He is coming back, and no, Hes not going to tell me when. It has been mapped out from before the beginning of time. I dont claim to understand it all, but perhaps thats why Hes in control not me. Our job in the interim is to diligently wait and tell others about Him. Until next time, regardless of what you are going through, remember He has a plan and He is faithful. He is coming back. God bless. Kevin Are you afraid God is going to give you what you deserve or are you counting on it? Salvation and forgiveness arent based on how good or bad youve been, they come from accepting Jesus as Saviour. Email me to find out how to do that. Ill share a few Bible verses about the importance of a relationship with Jesus and a prayer that will make it possible.
