GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Encountering an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue # 236 August 21, 2001 Little Things
We got exciting news late last week, our son is safely back in North America, after a summer long mission trip to Madagascar. Other than what seems to be malaria and a few other bugs, hes in good health. He should be home on the weekend. Im looking forward to hearing about how God has worked in his life and those around him over the summer. His friend returns at the same time from a summer working at an orphan camp in Hungary. Im sure they will have some great tales to tell. For me, one of the most encouraging things in my walk with God is seeing Gods hand at work in the lives of people. There is something powerful that happens as I hear how they have seen His guidance, His faithfulness, His love at work. If only we could learn to share those things more with others. Sometimes we dont share because it is in something small that we have seen Gods hand. Its not astounding or miraculous as we usually think of those terms. Its just that we saw Him in everyday life. To me the everyday life testimonies are some of the best. I life an everyday, ordinary life. I have seen some incredible miracles wrought by God, but its the little stuff that sustains me. The answer to a prayer. The small victory over sin. The thought that God stirred in someone as they saw something mundane. By all measures the world uses, God should work only huge miracles in the lives of perfect people. Yet, God works in the ordinary life of ordinary people. To me that is the biggest miracle of all. A God who knows me, cares about me and wants to have a relationship with me even when I mess up is a God worth knowing. He knows every detail of our lives and He is faithful. Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV Take stock of how you se Him in the little things, then share that faithfulness with others. Until next time, may you experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life. God bless. Kevin © 2001 K.F. "Kevin" Corbin All Rights Reserved |
