GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue #471 April 24, 2002 String Theory The other evening, I was watching a science program on television. They were explaining the latest rage in physics, string theory. Apparently this theory goes a long way to explaining differences between various existing theories of how the universe works. Im not a physicist, so the theory was over my head, but the analogy they used to explain it made sense to me. Apparently these strings are everywhere and they way they react to being excited is similar to plucking the strings of a guitar. The physicist said, "Its like plucking the strings of a guitar. They vibrate differently or make different notes depending on the tension they are under and how hard they are plucked." He went on to say "It as if the whole universe is comprised of a huge symphony of finely orchestrated music." Now that, I understood! Everything in creation is set up as fine music. Each piece of matter has its place in the movement. If the physicists arent careful, they might begin to think there is a god out there who is the master orchestrator and creator of all things. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voices are not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. Psalm 19:1-4 NIV Everything created will sing praises to God. Do you? Until next time, stop for a moment in a quiet spot and listen for the sound of all creation singing Hallelu Yah. God bless. Kevin Do you have a relationship with this God of all creation? He created everything, but cares enough to want a personal relationship with each of us. Email me and Ill share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible. Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of: Dear God: I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord. Amen If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship. Did you know that at Gleanings, we have a dedicated team of prayer warriors and all prayer concerns are kept strictly confidential? Your comments, your questions and your joys are shared with the prayer team, to keep me accountable as the head of the ministry and to encourage them as they see God at work in your life.
