GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue #466 April 19, 2002 A Loud Honk Last night for several hours straight, the geese flew by my bedroom window. A small flock would go by and then a couple minutes later another flock would follow them. Some were coming in for a landing on the lake. Others were departing for parts unknown. Every now and then, just for variety, a flock of ducks went through as well. Geese are very social and vocal birds. It was a constant stream of loud honking. Im not certain what they were saying to each other, but they were saying lots of it. Maybe each of them was giving a loud honk just to say hello. It sounded like someone was standing outside my bedroom window with a trumpet. There was certainly no way of not knowing the geese were back in force. They had clearly announced their presence to anyone in hearing range. It will be the same when Jesus comes back. There will be no way of not knowing. The metaphorical trumpets of judgement will sound and He will return on the clouds. Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen. Revelation 1:7 NIV To some that is a terrifying thought. They dont want to face the wrath of an angry returning God. To others it will be a moment of great joy because the King has returned to take His throne. If you have accepted Him as Lord, there is no reason to fear His return or the events that will lead up to it. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8:1 NIV If you havent, perhaps it is time to give it serious thought. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15 NIV Until next time, may the trumpeting of the last days be a sound of comfort. Hallelu Yah. Kevin If youre not certain if your name is written in that book of life, email me and Ill share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible. Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of: Dear God: I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord. Amen If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship. Did you know that at Gleanings, we have a dedicated team of prayer warriors and all prayer concerns are kept strictly confidential?
