GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue #463 April 16, 2002 Vantage Point Early in the morning, well before breakfast, I stood looking at the frozen lake nestled in the mountains. The scenery was breathtaking. My eyes drifted from the lake nestled below me towards the mountain peaks above me. High in the air, soaring in lazy circles was an eagle. It was two far away for me to know what kind of eagle, but I just stood and watched it for a while. It too seemed to be watching the lake. Nothing below would have escaped the view from that vantage point. The eagle would have easily seen the mule deer that had crossed the lake. It would have seen the squirrels at play, the rabbit nestled in the brush between the tree line and the lake and it would have seen me standing there. Not much escaped his eye. Its even more so with God. For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. 2 Chronicles 16:9 NIV Think about that for a moment. God searches the whole earth from His vantage point in the heavens with the purpose of strengthening you and I. Nothing escapes His eye; no matter how large or small the situation, He sees and is there to provide what we need. From His vantage point, all people are lovable and worth investing His time and energy in. Whatever you are struggling with, wherever you need to be strengthened, you can turn to Him. Hes prepared. Until next time, rejoice in the love of a God who is not content to wait passively. He looks for the places we need help. God bless. Kevin Do you have a relationship with this God who sees it all and is prepared to jump in? Do you know this God who loves you enough to offer you forgiveness no matter what you have done? Email me and Ill share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible. Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of: Dear God: I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord. Amen If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship. Did you know that at Gleanings, we have a dedicated team of prayer warriors and all prayer concerns are kept strictly confidential? Your comments, your questions and your joys are shared with the prayer team, to keep me accountable as the head of the ministry and to encourage them as they see God at work in your life.
