GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD

Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life

Issue # 462 April 15, 2002

Fresh Snow

As I drove home from a weekend conference nestled in Canada’s Rocky Mountains, I rejoiced that the bulk of the snow cover en route has disappeared. There was still snow in the mountains, but otherwise, outside of shaded areas the ground had taken on the wonderful brown look that is the harbinger of spring’s real arrival.

I got up this morning to find three inches of fresh snow on everything with more still falling. I know it is likely to be gone in the next day or so, but it was still a rude shock.

I shouldn’t have been shocked because we will get little bursts of snow up until the latter part of May. In fact, I have seen at least a token amount of snow fall during every month of the year.

For those of you not familiar with Canada, we don’t live in igloos and snow in the summer is a rarity. Our spring, summer and fall are short but beautiful. The snow that falls during these seasons doesn’t usually last long.

Our life can be like that fresh snowfall. Just when we think everything is going along well, something happens to dampen our spirits and burden us down.

For those who have a relationship with Christ, there is an advantage. No matter what circumstances life drops in our lap, He is still in control and His love and character never change.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.              Hebrews 13:8 NIV

Until next time, no matter what falls into your life, rejoice in the knowledge that Jesus will still be the same loving, powerful and forgiving God He has been.

Hallelu Yah

Kevin

Are you struggling with life? Uncertain where to turn with the unexpected hands that life seems to deal you? Reeling from the weight of life? There is a place you can go for help!

Email me and I’ll share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible.

Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of:

Dear God:

I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord.

Amen

If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship.
