GLEANINGS FROM THE WORD Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life Issue #455 April 6, 2002 Fellowship I have a house full of junior high aged boys this weekend. They are attending YC 2002 a major Christian youth rally. After the opening sessions of the rally yesterday, I listened to the boys talk well into the wee hours of the morning. They talked of the music that was performed and their love of Jesus. They talked about all the things that interest junior high boys in that odd stage of trying to figure out who they are, not quite men, but no longer children. They talked of drugs available anywhere in their schools. They told horrific junior high jokes. They sang the theme songs from commercials. They spoke about the struggles of peer pressure. They talked about music, both Christian and secular. They competed for one anothers attention as only teenagers can do. I realized what a blessing it was for them to have other Christians of the same age with whom they can share time. Others who would hold them accountable in their faith walk and with whom they could share their struggles. I realized what a blessing it is for those of us who are adults who have similar fellowship and how much more difficult it is for those who have to walk the Christian walk as lone rangers without Christian fellowship. You can be a Christian and never attend a church, but its harder. We were designed for fellowship and support of one another. If youre not in Christian fellowship, both you and the body of believers are weakened. Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:19-25 NIV Until next time, if youre walking the walk all alone, may you find a place of fellowship with other believers. If you already have that place of fellowship, may God place on their heart those whom you need to invite to join you. Hallelu Yah Kevin. If you dont know my friend Jesus, let me introduce you to him. Email me and Ill share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible. Email me and Ill share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible. Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of: Dear God: I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord. Amen If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship.
