Experiencing an extraordinary God in ordinary life

FULL MEAL DEAL

Every fast food restaurant going seems to be offering some kind of a full meal deal. To top it off, you can even gargantuan size your full meal deal for a little more. I’m not sure why you would want to, and I don’t even want to think about the implications because does that mean a full meal deal isn’t or does it mean that it is now the glutton sized meal?

The full meal deal of thirty years ago is the child’s meal of today. An adult sized soft drink twenty years ago was 8-10 ounces, now a small is more than 16 ounces. Where will it all be in ten years? Or Twenty?

It seems that we are never satisfied. The full meal deal of today won’t be big enough or good enough tomorrow.

It’s not just in food; it’s technology and everything else. Do you still remember eight track players and beta video players? Now we’ve gone past cassettes, VHS, Cd’s into mp3 and DVD. Undoubtedly those will soon be obsolete.

How about Atari, Commodore 64, or a 286 with 64k of Ram and 40 meg hard drives for power computing? Television with knobs that only needed 13 channels instead of digital cable with 250+ channels (with still nothing on worth watching).

I guess that’s just the way we are as people. Never quite satisfied, always looking for the next new and improved gizmo because it will satisfy us.

There is a full meal deal that will satisfy forever.

I am the bread of life. Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." John 6:48-51 NIV

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."

"Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?"

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:10-14 NIV

Jesus is the full meal deal. He will always satisfy. His love and sacrifice are our doors to contentment, peace, love and forgiveness.

Until next time, when you feel restless for the next new earthly full meal deal, remember the one who really satisfies.

Hallelu Yah

Kevin

Are you looking for a real kind of satisfaction, a sense of purpose, peace, contentment, love and forgiveness? Turn to a relationship with Jesus.

Email me and I’ll share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible.

Or simply begin the relationship by saying a prayer along the lines of:

Dear God:

I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you Lord.

Amen

If you pray this prayer let me know and I will direct you to some free non-denominational resources that will help you grow in that newfound relationship.
