Issue #1,154 August 15, 26 A Moses Miracle
We stood in one of the more than forty children's wards at Baragwanath Hospital,
in Johannesburg, South Africa feeling quite overwhelmed. Baragwanath is the largest
hospital in Africa and some people have told me it is the largest hospital in
the world. It was a good thing that Emma (the lady we were accompanying) knew
where we were going, or we'd still be lost in the maze.
We were there to visit Moses. Moses is a boy with AIDS, complicated by meningitis
and TB. To make matters worse he had suffered a stroke, gone into a coma and was
given no chance of survival by the doctors. Yet here we were a couple of days
later and he was sitting up in bed and eating, with some help. Even the nursing
staff had to say that his very survival was a miracle from God.
Moses is now back home at the HIV/AIDS home. When we saw him last, he was walking
and talking, albeit a little unsteadily. According to medical science that could
never have happened, but God had a different idea. Moses' is still a very sick
boy and his remaining time on earth will in all probability be very short, perhaps
days, maybe weeks, or at the most months. He won't go until the Lord calls Him
home, no matter what the doctors have to say.
I don't know why God chooses to heal one person and not another. I don't know
why He chose to bring Moses back from the very brink of death, or when He will
call Moses home. I do know that God is ultimately wise, loving and faithful. Hid
reasons and His timing are always perfect even when we don't understand. Mind
you, if we could understand everything God did, He wouldn't be much of a God would
He?
God has ordained the amount of time each of us has. We have no more than that
and no less than that.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the
secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes
saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before
one of them came to be.
Psalm 139:14-16 NIV
Each and every one of those days is a precious commodity to be used to its fullest.
If God has laid something on your heart, do it. Now is the day. Today is the time.
Don't wait. Make that call. Mend that bridge. Ask for forgiveness. Support that
ministry. Pray for that person. Make the visit. Share the truth of the gospel.
Whatever He's called you to do ... do it. We don't all get a Moses miracle.
Until next time, remember every day is a gift from God. Give Him thanks for each
of them.
Hallelu Yah (Praise God)
Be blessed
Kevin
Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or insignificant. You have
value in the eyes of God so great that it was worth dying for. You are a blessing
to the world. You are so precious to God that heaven will not be complete without
you.
HELP FOR THE HURTING
None of us knows if we have 50 years or 15 minutes left on this earth. We could
be around a very long time, or drop dead before you finish reading this (or for
me, before I finish writing it). If you haven't done so, today is the day to think
about eternity and to get right with God. There's only one way to do that, a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ. He stands there waiting to forgive your sin, give
you hope and purpose and seal your eternity in heaven. All is takes is a heartfelt
prayer and believing on Him. Will you do that today?
If you want to know how to do that simply email us and we'll send you some Bible
verses that will explain it to you.
You can simply begin the relationship by honestly and completely opening your
heart; admitting you need God's help; turning away from your sin and saying a
prayer along the lines of the one below. There isn't any "magic" in the prayer;
it's simply a way to open up to the gift that Jesus already bought for you with
His very life. You can't earn it. You don't deserve it. He freely offers it to
all who will accept it.
Jesus:
I have made many mistakes in my life and done things I am not proud of. I have
sinned. I need your love and forgiveness. I believe that you came into this world
and gave your life on a cross to pay for my sins and that you defeated death and
rose again. Please forgive me, and be the Lord of my life. I give my life to you
Lord.
Amen
If you pray this prayer for the first time let me know so I can rejoice with
you. It's not the end of the process. It is the beginning of a wonderful journey
to become more like Jesus. It's your starting point.
